(Dis)Assembling >
This is the Cube 21 edition of the Square-1 puzzle. I think I bought it in Prague, though I'm not sure. The only problem is to take off a center piece, afterwards it all comes apart easily. Unfortunately from the outside you can't see which of the two center pieces contains the screw, but if you have a Cube 21 as well then I'd suggest you try the blue one like in the images below.
Disclaimer: Disassemble etc at your own risk. I did my best to describe thoroughly what I did with my puzzle, but yours may be built differently or may have more glue or any other problem so that it might not be as easily disassembled as mine. Ok, let's get started...
I used a very thin blade.

And I left some coins in there for a while, hoping that it would make the glue weaker. Not sure it helped, though.

Finally I got the cap off. This took me a looong time, though. Don't expect this to be easy at all. Good tools, patience and dexterity is needed. Look at the inside of the center and the cap to see how you can use a blade without damaging too much.

The two halves after getting the screw out. Notice that the producers had put the washer on the absolutely wrong end of the spring! It should be on the other end and protect the plastic, not the metal screw head. I've seen a Cube 21 of someone where the screw had eaten through the plastic so one middle piece was shaking about a centimeter.

The pieces spread out. Then I cleaned, lubed and reassembled it (putting the washer on the other end of the spring). Now it turns real easily.
